NEW YEAR - 2013

A new year, but not a new focus. Jesus, I trust, will always be my main focus in life.

No new resolutions--just a deeper commitment.

How 'bout you?

Have a blest New Year!

What Is Christmas to You?

Christmas to me is first a remembrance of the birth of Christ. But it also reminds me to ask the Lord for a continual rebirth of Christ within me. And of course, it's a time for family. Presents no longer excite me; but the presence of family encourages me to "keep the faith" and never let go of hope. Hope for those I love, hope for those I might be able to influence, and hope for our nation.

Have a blessed Christmas!

Post-Election

Elections are past; voters are either happy or not. Either way, it's done.

Those of us who hold different values than the current administration need to work toward a renewed and revived nation. Prayer, much prayer, is only the beginning. As St. James said, "...faith without works is dead."

But let's not run around "doing, doing, doing." Let's first ask God what He wants us as individuals to do. Not everyone is called to the same action.

Faith is the substance of things unseen. A people (nation) without a vision perishes. But a nation whose vision opposes God's Law(s) will also perish.

Trust in God; pray, and work.

Do people listen to you?

Do you like to influence people in a positive way? A simple smile can do that. But maybe you want to do more--to sway people's opinions about important topics, or to plant in someone the desire to change their life for the better.

How do you do that? Do you give them suggestions?
Do you corner them and ply them with your ideas? (Not a good move.)

On the flip side, do you find that people don't seem to even hear you when you speak? That's a bummer, huh? I've had that happen in small groups--I'll say something, it's left hanging; then someone else says the same thing and people respond! On the other hand, I do get positive remarks from people when I least expect it!

Does Time Matter to God?

In a sense, time is important to God--He chose the time in history for His Son to come to earth. But in another sense, since God Himself is timeless, and eternity has no beginning or end, then time is not important to God.

Time is important to humans because much of our life revolves around it.

Did you notice that as you age, time seems to go faster? Someone remarked that for a 3-year old, a year is 1/3 of his or her life current life span. But for a, say, 70-year old, one year is 1/70 of his or her life--well past the mid-point if we use 100 as the final marker. Of course, if we use 80 or 90 as the final marker... So, time is important to us, and God can make good use of it if we let Him.

See www.Sevenly.org for a different T-shirt each week that supports a good cause. Company donates $7 from each sale toward that charity.
